Rural Development Administration National Institute of Crop Science

Greetings

Welcome to the official website of the National Institute of Crop Science (NICS).

The NICS is dedicated to ensuring national food security and advancement of the food industry. Leveraging on science and technology, we have led the way in the Green Revolution, playing a pioneering role in the field of food and crops. Moving forward, we will continue to develop our research and technologies with innovative and convergent thinking to enhance food productivity, establish environmentally friendly agricultural systems, and make progress toward sustainable agriculture in the future.

Recently, our agriculture is faced with many challenges and change. The ongoing crisis due to climate change disrupts crop production environments, and rapidly fluctuating international grain prices impact our economy. The importance of food security based on agriculture and rural areas is higher than ever.

Our institute will actively respond to the rapidly changing agricultural environment and achieve future growth and industrialization by focusing on the following four areas:

✓ As an institution responsible for the nation’s food industry, we will be faithful to our fundamental role of developing food crop varieties and establishing stable cultivation    technologies.
✓ We will spare no effort in developing and supporting technologies to successfully reach national goals such as vitalization of the floury rice industry,
implementation of K-Ricebelt,Green Bio, Food Tech, etc.
✓ We will actively utilize digital technologies, artificial intelligence, big data, etc., to innovate the agricultural production system and secure a foundation for smart farming.
✓ We will strive to create a culture of communication in all directions and to spread an ecosystem that collaborates both domestically and internationally so that the voice of
all walks of life are reflected on-ste and through agricultural policies.

We ask for your encouragement and support to overcome the challenges facing our agriculture and achieve stable and sustainable food production, for this generation and further generations to come.

Thank you.
